Censorship Screen

At the start of a trailer, there is a green screen that is used to show that the trailer is open to viewing by all audiences. I made my own version of this in case of any copyright issues and tried my best to make it look professional. For this I used a programme called paint to alter the image in order to make it look better.

The green screen above is a professional one that I have taken from the internet to use as an example and the one below is the one I have made myself for the sake of this film. I think it will show my keen attitude if I made my own.

Ancillary Task.

For my ancillary task I wanted to make my anchorage text a bit more enticing and welcoming. Therefore I decided to have a look on the internet for a font generator and I came across; http://www.dafont.com/, which is very good for making your own font. I found thought that they only did black and white font so there fore I had to do some editing to it.
This was how the font I chose looked before, I used a programme called Paint, which is standard issue programme on windows computers. I then used a feature called spraycan to fill in the circles throughout the font.

By the end of this I had managed to edit the look of the original one to make it seem a lot more professional. Also once it was done it stood out a lot more and made the whole magazine cover seem a lot more appropriate to our film.

The Watcher.

This is the final video for our trailer of the 2011 horror film, The Watcher.

Sound.

I feel that the sound I include in the trailer is crucial to the success of said trailer. I decided to use music that I feel I would typically hear in a horror movie. I felt that this was a safe bet because I know that it will work in the film and add the feeling of enigma that I felt it needed.

This is the website where we got the sound for our film. It is a website that is compiled with a large amount of clips that are royalty free. This means we are able to use them in our media films without risking any copyright infringement.

Damn productions.

For our film, we had to come up with our own production company name and logo, so we decided to clash mine(danny) and Damian's names and we came up with Damn Productions. We then had a couple of ideas for what logo to use, here is our final logo that we decided to use:

In our film, we also used cropping tools and transitions and effects to edit the logo and make it look like an animation.

Credits/Titles.

For our media film we thought that an affective way of making the trailer seem more realistic was to have it so that the credits and trailers broke up the trailer. I also think that it adds a sense of mystery and it can help to make the story line of the trailer seem more obvious.

In order to insert a title or credit, you have to click on the make titles or credits option which will then open up the following page:

This is the part where you can decide where you would like your credit or title to play in the time sequence. Once you have decided, you click on the appropriate tab and then this page will appear:

This where you can input the text you would like to appear on your title or credit. You can also edit the font or the colour of the text/background on your credit or title. Then this means you can make it look how you want and in my case I chose what I believed would be the best suited for our film. Taking into consideration the genre and our desire to make it look profesional. Once all of this is complete, the credit or title should look like the following.

Sutton Park continued.

The shot below is some of the film footage we took in Sutton Park and I feel that it shows just what we wanted from the park and I feel that this shot shows exactly how we could use this setting effectively for a horror film.

We are going to manipulate this shot to make it usable for our trailer.

Sutton Park.

A portion of our film is set in Sutton Park and we use this for a number of reasons. Sutton Park is one of the biggest parks in Europe and the biggest outside of a capital city. Therefore there is a large range of different backdrops we could have used and also we could explore a bit and look for a place we liked and one we felt fitted well and suited our storyline.
This is a part of Sutton Park and I feel that this shot really shows what the great park has to offer in terms of scenery. There are many other locations in the park that are similar and even some better suited thant his one for a horror trailer. Therefore I think that our decision to shoot the film there was a correct one.

AGFA Photo.

For our trailer, we planned to use a personal camera but due to difficulties, we borrowed one from the media department. The cameras that were on offer we the Agfaphoto APDV-1012 Video Camera 5 MegaPixel HD 1080p with HDMI Connection. These are very advanced cameras. This means that we can get the best possible quality from out camera shot.

Film Magazine/Poster Research.

In my portfolio, we have the main task (the teaser trailer) but we also have 2 ancillary tasks that needed doing. They are:
- A film magazine front cover, featuring the film.
- A poster for the film.
For this I am going to research some magazines and posters so that mine can be the best it can possibly be.
Some major film magazines are:
- Total film.
- Empire.
I have researched these two magazines because they are 2 of the most successful magazines that are around. They also feature heavily with different genres and are renound for having the best detail and the most well written columns and analytical text. Another point is that they include both front covers and film posters in the form of free give aways. Using this will help me to make my magazine cover and poster look as professional as it possibly can.

These are two of the more popular front covers that the two magazines have advertised as Avatar is considered widely as one of the best films that have ever been made.

http://www.totalfilm.com/magazine - This is the webite for Total Film. I used this for my research as it is rich with information about the magazine and it helps to decipher the general codes and conventions of the film magazine.

Practise photgraphy

In the portfolio, we are expected to ancillary tasks and for my trailer I need to include the front page of a magazine whereby my film is the main feature and a film poster for my magazine. For both of these I need to have photos to use so I decided to do a number of practice shots and that way and I can have a better idea of the sort of shot I wanted to use. It also meant I could experiment with lighting and the different backgrounds that would benefit the other features of my front page/poster.
This is clearly not a well taken image and therefore I took more shots.

This shot is slightly more appropriate but the facial expressions were not what I was aiming for.

This is the shot I am going to use for my poster because it adds the feeling that Damian is scared.

This is the shot I am going to use for my magazine cover because I like the lighting and the background is affective in making it look rural.

These are some of the shots I used and in the ones with the green background I used something called a green screen which makes it easier to crop of edit the image. I am going to give it a light background so that Damian is actually the main feature of the image. I think that this will add to the affect of fear in the image I choose to use because it means you will concentrate on the expression used.

Magazine cover photography

For the ancillary task we were asked to make a magazine cover with our film as the main feature. I decided that as the main image for the magazine cover I was going to have Damian Hall in a particular pose/position. I thought that this would be appropriate because Damian is the main character in my film.

I think that this photograph is an effective one because it is well lit so it makes it look like everything is normal which is the feeling we try to achieve at the begginging of the finished film.

Any Video Converter

When we had done our filming, we then uploaded it to the computer using the USB cable. Once it had been put onto the school computer we realised that it was in the wrong file format and that it had to be converted. There is a program on the school's system call Any Video Converter and on this you can convert a file into any other file format. We had to change it from a VLC Media File (.mp3) to SWF Flash format. We had to do this in order to get it onto the Flash Elements program so we could edit our footage.
